This square used to be a paradise for the hippies who came to Nepal between 1960-1973.
SWAYAMBHUNATH: One of the world's oldest stupa, a white dome with a golden fleche painted with eyes of Buddha on four sides, situated in the western hillock of Kathmandu about 70m above the level of Kathmandu, overlooking widespread view of Kathmandu. Buddhist stupa and statues are scattered all over the place.
PATAN: A Buddhist city, about 5 km south of Kathmandu-inhabited by Newari artists very well known for metal works and paintings. Situated in center of the city is the ancient palace of medieval period known as Durbar Square, a fine example of medieval architecture and profuse woodcarving in the palace building as well as the temples of different structures-pagodas & Sikhara. Buddhist monasteries of 16 & 17 centuries can be seen all over the city.
BUNGMATI: A typical village of 16th century situated in the foothills of the southern side of the valley, inhabited by Newari farmers, whose second occupation is wood carving, is still very far away from modern developments. An ideal location to see medieval village structure & lifestyle. Daily workers pass outside the houses in the street & in the courtyards around the Temples.

Breakfast at Hotel Morning Visit of Pashupatinath and Boudhanath
PASHUPATINATH: One of the greatest pilgrimage centers for all the Hindus of the world. A pagoda temple with rich woodcarving and metal works with golden room and silver doors is dedicated to Shiva, Hindu God of destruction and regeneration. Beyond the temple is the river Bagmati, a sacred river for cremation according to Hindu belief. Thousands of devotees come here every day for rituals and prayers and vessels full of offerings.
BOUDHANATH: A small Tibetan inhabitation about 8 KM northeast of the center of Kathmandu, with one of the world's biggest stupa, a Buddhist relic believed to be constructed in 4th century is the meeting point for all the Buddhist followers of the world. It is surrounded by Tibetan monasteries.
Afternoon sightseeing of Bhaktapur Durbar Square
BHAKTAPUR DURBAR SQUARE: The main square of the city which used to be capital part of old Bhadgaon kingdom contains numerous temples and monuments of wonderful nature. The first striking city mark would be the 55 Window Palace built by late King Bhupatindra Malla with which the three remaining kingdoms of Kantipur, Lalitpur and Kirtipur envied a lot. This jealousy often lead to some political strife as well. During the Malla era Bhaktapur and Lalitpur particularly appeared as tough competitors. The 55 Window Palace is a unique type of structure, so it is the only kind in all modern Nepal without a single imitation or duplication or replica appearing elsewhere. The first ten windows decently face west, thirty-five face south and the remaining ten face east. The Golden Gate, the Gigantic Bell, the Stone Pillar of late Bhupatindra Malla and the Chayslin Mandap (Octagonal Pagoda) look gorgeous. The National Art Gallery although closed on Tuesday expose a large and detailed collection of marvelous stone crafts and scroll paintings. Entering through the Golden Gate and behind the 55 Window palace, we come across Taleju Bhawani Temple and the Royal Bath. Very obviously every city has a Taleju Bhawani Temple as She is believed to be the Protectress of the city by the orthodox Hindus.
