IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF BUDDHA

DAY WISE ITINERARY

DAY 01: ARRIVAL BODHGAYA
Meeting and assistance on arrival at the airport at Bodhgaya and transferred to your hotel.
 
Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Later dinner & overnight at hotel.
 
DAY 02: BODHGAYA
After breakfast sightseeing of Mahabodhi Temple, a world heritage site. It is believed that Prince Siddharth attained enlightenment under a Tree after years of struggle in search for the truth and knowledge.
 
After lunch at hotel proceed for sightseeing visiting NiranjanaRiver,Sujata Village, monasteries.
 
Evening visit Mahabodhi Temple for prayer ceremony. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel.
 
DAY 03: BODHGAYA / RAJGIR / NALANDA / PATNA
We will have an early breakfast today and leave for Patna, the capital city of the state of Bihar en route visiting en route visiting Rajgir - earlier called Rajgriha, which means the 'Home of Royalty'. It is believed that Lord Buddha spent quite a few years at this place. We will be visiting Vishwa Shanti Stupa, Venu Vana Vihar. 
 
Nalanda was a great learning centre where the first residential international university of the world, with strength of 2,000 teachers and 10,000 monks' students from all over the Buddhist world was established. We will visit Nalanda University ruins archaeological complex and its museum. We will then continue our drive to Patna.
 
Dinner & overnight stay at hotel in Patna.
 
DAY 04: PATNA / VAISHALI / KUSHINAGAR
After breakfast drive to Kushinagar en route sightseeing of Vaishali- the capital of Licchavi kings. It is believed that Lord Buddha gave his last sermon here & proclaimed Parinirvana. The second Buddhist council held here after 100 years of Buddha’s 
death, led to the division of Buddhist temple into Mahayana or progressives and Theravada or the orthodox. The place is famous for Ashok pillar & Shanti Stupa.
 
We will then continue our drive to Kushinagar. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel in Kushinagar.
 
DAY 05: KUSHINAGAR / SIDDHARTH NAGAR (LUMBINI)
After breakfast, we will visit Mahaparinirvana Temple which lies behind the nirvana stupa. It is famous for a 6.10m Lord Buddha Statue made of a single piece of red sandstone. We will then visit the place where Lord Buddha is believed to have been cremated, known as Ramabhar Stupa or Mukutbandhan-Chaitya.
 
Later drive to Lumbini (in Nepal). After completing the immigration formalities at the border, we will proceed to the hotel. Overnight at Hotel in Lumbini 
 
DAY 06: SIDDHARTH NAGAR (LUMBINI)
If time permits we will do a short sightseeing of Lumbini visiting Sacred garden & Puskani Pond. The Ashoka pillar in Sacred Garden carries an inscription identifying the spot as the birth place of Buddha. It is believed that Maya Devi, the mother of Lord Buddha, took a dip in Puskani Pond before giving birth.
 
Dinner & overnight stay at hotel in Lumbini.
 
DAY 07: SIDDHARTH NAGAR (LUMBINI) / SRAVASTI
After early breakfast proceed to Sravasti, the capital of the Kosala kingdom during the Buddha's time.After
lunch we will visit the Buddhist temple, the ruins of the stupa and the Jetvana monastery. The Ananda Bodhi tree is located near the entrance of Jetavana, was planted at the request of Anathapindika as an object for worship during the Buddha's absence from Sravasti. Gandhakuti is the most sacred temple as it is believed that Lord Buddha lived here.
 
Return back to the hotel for dinner & overnight.
 
DAY 08: SRAVASTI / VARANASI (SARNATH)
After breakfast, we will drive to Varanasi. On arrival check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Dinner & overnight stay at 
hotel in Varanasi.
 
DAY 09: VARANASI
Early morning
boatride on the Holy River Ganges. Enjoy the boat cruise with
picturesque view of sunrise and the people offering prayers near the banks. Return to the hotel for breakfast and later proceed for sightseeing of Sarnath. It is believed that Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon to his five disciples after coming here soon after attaining enlightenment. A Stupa was erected her by Emperor Ashoka on his visit.
 
Spend the evening at leisure or explore the markets of the holy city. Overnight at hotel in Varanasi   
 
DAY 10: VARANASI / AGRA
After breakfast we will proceed for sightseeing of some famous Hindu temples of Varanasi and also visit some workshops weaving mat & sarees.  Varanasi is famous for Silk Sarees. Evening transfer to Railways Station for an overnight train to Agra. Packed dinner will be provided on the train.

DAY 11: ARRIVAL / AGRA / DELHI
You will be met on arrival at TUNDLA railway station (station near Agra) and transferred to a hotel where rooms will be booked for wash and change and breakfast. Later sightseeing of Agra visiting Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. We will then drive 4 hrs to Delhi. On arrival at Delhi check into your hotel for overnight stay.
 
Note: Taj Mahal remain close on Friday for public viewing
 
DAY 12: DELHI / DEPARTURE 
After early breakfast at the hotel, we will proceed for sightseeing of Old Delhi visiting Red fort, Jama Masjid, explore the narrow streets of Chandni Chowk by rickshaw and visit Rajghat – the Gandhi Memorial. After lunch short sightseeing of New Delhi visiting some important monuments and Imperial buildings.
 
Later transfer to international airport for flight to onward destination.
