Bhutan, the last Shangri La on Earth, where progress is measured in terms of Gross National Happiness, is no ordinary place to visit. It visibly protects its Buddhist traditions, and at the same time you will find the Bhutanese well educated, fun loving and well informed about the world around them. It's this blending of the ancient and modern that makes Bhutan endlessly fascinating.
Environmental protection goes hand in hand with cultural preservation in Bhutan. By law, at least 60% of the country must remain forested for all future generations; it currently stands above 70%. Not only is Bhutan carbon neutral, but it actually absorbs more carbon than it emits!
On this tour, we'll get cultural insights into the village life of Bhutan, explore its magnificent forts and monasteries, and discover the raw beauty of the dragon kingdom of Bhutan.
This tour begins in the small capital city of Thimphu, where we'll experience the ancient mixed with the new. We'll travel to the more remote Punakha, one of Bhutan's most scenic valleys. We enjoy the nature trails of Gangtey and then go on to immerse ourselves in the deep spirituality of Bumthang. The highlight of this fascinating tour is exploring Paro Tsechu, one of the biggest buddhist festivals of Bhutan.
