The Royal Rajasthan Tour takes you to some of the most fascinating and interesting destinations in India. You get to experience the rich and vibrant culture of Rajasthan, walk through majestic forts and places, taste their exotic cuisine, and explore dense and exciting jungles and perhaps spot the royal Indian tiger in its natural habitat! Most of the palaces, that were once homes to the royals, have opened their doors for visitors to come see their culture and way of living. These are not only visually magnificent, they also offer heroic tales of valour.

DAY 1 and 2 -- Arrive at the historical capital city New Delhi

Our travel counselor will meet you at the airport and assist you in your hotel check-in. Delhi offers over a thousand monuments, old capital buildings including the present seat of the government, the Lok Sabha, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, the British architect, and bustling bazaars. In contrast it has some of India's most luxurious and modern hotels, markets and restaurants.

We will spend the first 2 days exploring Delhi and visit popular sites like Old Delhi, Red Fort, Jama Masjid (Asia's largest mosque), Humayun's Tomb and Qutab Minar. The highlight of our expedition will be exploring the busy streets of Chandni Chowk Bazaars by cycle rickshaw.

DAY 3 and 4 -- Fly to Jodhpur, and drive on to the golden city of Jaisalmer

Take a flight to Jodhpur, where you will be met by our counselor who will assist you on your onward journey to Jaisalmer.

Deserts, camels, havelis with jharokas (balconies), sand-stone structures and stunning intricate architecture make Jaisalmer a favourite with not just tourists, but also Hollywood producers like Wes Anderson and Christopher Nolan, who have shot their popular films in the city. We will visit the magnificent Fort of Jaisalmer, a massive sandcastle rising from the sands, giving us a glimpse of a bygone era and other havelis, visit local markets where you can shop for clothes and artifacts, enjoy local cuisine and stroll through narrow streets soaking in the culture. In the afternoon we will visit the glorious sand dunes on camel back

DAY 5 and 6 -- Visit the Blue City of Jodhpur

After breakfast, drive 5 hours from Jaiselmer to Jodhpur. Jodhpur is famous for the distinctive colour of its buildings, a reminder of the Brahmins, who used to paint their houses blue to deter insects and keep the dwellings cool during the summer. We will visit this old city encircled by an imposing wall and accessed through eight magnificent gates, which also is home to the majestic Mehrangarh Fort which has the reputation of being the most impressive Rajput fort in India.

Our next stop within the old city will be the Jaswant Thada, a beautiful marble crematorium constructed for the maharajahs in the 19th century. Our trip to Jodhpur will not be complete without a visit to the grand and ornate Umaid Palace which is part museum, part royal residence and part hotel. We will also visit the Sadar and Kapra bazaars where you can shop textiles, ceramics, spices and silver jewelry.

DAY 7 and 8 -- Next we head to Udaipur, the City of Lakes

From Jodhpur, we will drive out to the charming and romantic city of Udaipur. Lake Pichola is central to the main palaces and all the palaces, including the ones floating in the water, are lit up. It's incredibly atmospheric. While there we will visit the city palace, Lake Palace, Ranakpura Jain temples and other attractions, and take an evening sunset cruise on Lake Pichola.

DAY 9 -- Relax and experience village life in Jojawar

A 3 hour drive from Udaipur, Jojawar gives you a chance to see authentic village life and interesting landscapes. You have the option of taking a jeep tour, cycling or mountain climbing. You can even enjoy a toy train ride

DAY 10 -- Drive to Pushkar

Pushkar, one of India's oldest cities, is a 3 hour drive from Jojawar. It has been largely known for its religious significance as the city boasts of one of the very rare temples of Lord Brahma(Hindu god). It's a great place to relax, stroll through bustling lanes, take a camel safari and soak in the spiritual energy of the place.

DAY 11 and 12 -- Visit Jaipur, the Pink City

Drive 4 hours to Jaipur, one of the most popular tourist destinations in India. The bazaars teem with people, camels, horses and a multitude of varied vehicles, while around them are magnificent palaces and buildings.

Visit Amber Fort, the ancient capital of Jaipur state in the morning. The afternoon city tour will take you to the City Palace whose museum has an extensive collection of art, carpets, enamel ware and weapons. We will also go to Jantar Mantar - the observatory built my Maharaja Jai Singh in 1728 and the facade of Hawa Mahal - the Palace of Winds.

DAY 13 and 14 -- Spot a tiger at Ranthambore

Drive 4 hours to Ranthambore National Park, one of the biggest wildlife reserves in Northern India. Considered to be the best place to see the Royal Indian Tiger in the wild the park is also home to a variety of fauna like the crocodiles, deer, leopards and blue bulls, and a large species of birds. You can opt for doing both the morning and evening safaris to increase your chances of spotting a tiger in this beautiful and serene forest.

DAY 15 and 16 -- Visit the monument of eternal love at Agra

Take a train to Bharatpur and be driven 1.5 hrs to Agra. View the Taj Mahal, the beautiful monument carved out of white marble stone at sunrise. After breakfast visit Agra Fort and then drive 4 hrs to Delhi international airport for flight to onward destination.

  • "Newton was a life saver in planning and executing our trip to India to visit our daughter who had been studying there. He was the person who I called when my daughter and her friends were stranded in the middle of nowhere late at night after talking a wrong bus. Within an hour, he had a car to meet her; a hotel sorted out and helped them make the boat tour. He helped us plan our two week holiday in India and it was spectacular. He arranged for every detail including a very trusted private car with excellent driver, all our accommodations, private tour guides in each city and in country airfares. Our trip was custom built around our needs and desires and it was truly a memory of a lifetime. If you are thinking of travelling to India -- don't look any further for planning partner, Call Newton at Royal India Holidays right away. You won't be disappointed. He is like having a friend you can trust half way across the world."
