In the early morning, we will transfer you to the domestic airport for flight to Lukla (2,800m / 45 Min), a gateway destination from where your trek starts. This is one of the most wonderful flight routes with breathtaking views of greenery and White snow-capped mountains in the world culminating in a dramatic landing on a hillside surrounded by high mountains peaks. We will meet our supporting crew members (porters)andthen afterwe commence ourshorttrekthrough the DudhKoshi Valley on a well-marked trail until we reach Phakding. However, if interested in additional activities we can take a side trip to a nearby monastery. Overnight in Mountain Lodge.

You follow the course of the DudhKoshi valley, walk through fabulous forests of rhododendron and magnolia

trees and giant firs to a large valley below Thamserku peak and the entrance to Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park. Then our walk is a switchback along the riverbank and the BhoteKoshi valley. We cross the DudhKoshi on a suspension bridge and reach a ridge with breathtaking views of Everest, Nuptse and Lhotse, before arriving at Namche Bazaar. Overnight in Mountain Lodge.

Today is a rest day for necessary acclimatization. Namche Bazaar is a bustling, horseshoe shaped town and the trading hub of the Sherpa culture. You can choose to explore the town and look round its fascinating museumofSherpacultureandnaturalhistoryor do a‘sidetrek’tothetraditionalvillages of Khumjungand Khunde. Overnight in Mountain Lodge.

Today we rejoin the trail east of Namche Bazaar and walk high above the Dudh Kosi through thick woods to Phunki, a village with water-powered prayer wheels, then sharply up to Tyangboche, with its famous monastery. From here a fabulous Himalayan panorama is visible, including the peaks of Kwangde, Tawachee, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Kamtega and Thamserke. Tengboche lies not far below Ama Dablam, a mountain which many consider to be the most beautiful in the entire Himalayas. Overnight in Mountain Lodge.

“The most beautiful place on earth – it would be difficult to imagine a finer site for worship or contemplation” – this is how the explorer W.H. Tillman described the vantage point from the trail below Tyangboche, with Everest standing majestically black and dizzyingly high, while Ama Dablam is sublimely beautiful, swathed in a mantle of fresh snow. We pass through an ornate Buddhist portal en route to the littlevillageofDingboche,alongclusterofstonehousesandwalledpastures.OvernightinMountainLodge.

The major highlight today is the legendary viewpoint where three of the world’s six highest mountains –Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyu – are visible in one glance. You will follow the trail above Khumbu Khola, descending to cross the river at Dughla. Now we will be walking along the terminal moraine of the Khumbu glacier, climbing steeply to the crest, where there is a long row of monuments to Everest’s fatalities. We see Pumori, or ‘Daughter Peak’ coming into view shortly before reaching Lobuche. Lobuche is tucked away between a hill and a rocky moraine and above the village the views of Nuptse are graphically clear and the sunset view or ‘alpenglow’ from here is especially memorable. Overnight in Mountain Lodge.

We follow the western side of the Khumbu valley, climbing steadily alongside the glacial moraine. For a time we walk through the rubble of the Changri glacier – sometimes the path here is indeterminate and has to be navigated with the help of cairns or even yak dung! Soon the conical peak of Pumori appears. On the lower slopes is the southward-running ridge with the peak Kala Pather (5545m) at one end. Kala Pather (‘black rock’) is the best vantage point for Everest on the whole trek. Below Kala Pather is the sandy basin GorakShep (5160m), which has a small lake and several monuments. GorakShep is the location of original Everest Base Camp with new base camp being further up the valley. The path to Base Camp leads onto the Khumbu glacier itself passing seracs of ice as high as 15m. As we approach the area near the base of theKhumbu icefall we begin to see evidence of human activity which marks our arrival at Everest Base Camp! With the great view of Nuptse, Lho La and Khumbutso in front of us, we will retrace back. Overnight in Mountain Lodge.

Today you can look forward to another dazzling view which will imprint itself on your mind forever; the classic picture of Everest, the sides of its soaring peak etched crisply against the sky. From upper Kala Pather it is easy to see the legendary South Col, where most of the Everest expeditions have set up their highest camp. Due east and south is the Khumbu Glacier and above is a different perspective of Ama Dablam. On being back to GorakShep, we have breakfast followed by a gradual descend down to Pheriche for rest. Overnight in Mountain Lodge.

After a long ascending hikes, you take a relaxing descend to the lower altitudes to trace our trail back to Dughla. You can enjoy the scening beauty of wide valley of Khumbu Khola, trailing through some beautiful Sherpa villages – Pheriche, Orsho and Shomare. We follow the trail down through the ImjaKhola valley, crossing the Khumbu Khola and return to PhunkiThangkha before ascending a ridge and walking in to Namche Bazaar. Overnight in Mountain Lodge.

For the most part of the day, today, you will be descending downhill to Lukla, following DudhKoshi River. The downhillviews are completelydifferent. As always, the views of simplistic lifestyles of Sherpavillagers and their impressive faith in Buddhism are simply stunning. This is the last eveninginthe mountains. Hence, this is the ideal opportunityto throw a farewell partywith your crew. You can celebrate this final night in the mountains with some ‘Chang’ (local beer – a favorite

drinkonthemountains),doajigtosomeSherpamusicandrejoicetheamazingtripyoujusthad. Overnight in Mountain Lodge.
